Manganèse : Comilog devrait revoir ses projections à la baisse

Lors du conseil d’administration et de l’assemblée générale des actionnaires tenus le jeudi 9 juin 2022 à Moanda, la Compagnie minière de l’Ogooué (Comilog) avait exprimé son ambition de demeurer le numéro un mondial de production de manganèse à forte teneur. Ce, en passant de 7 millions de tonnes en 2021 à 8 millions de tonnes en 2022.

Si la filiale gabonaise du géant minier français Eramet devrait conserver cette position, il reste que la production escomptée ne pourrait plus être atteinte. En cause, l’arrêt de la circulation des trains minéraliers dû au déplacement des rails, le samedi 24 décembre 2022.

Et c’est contre son gré que la Comilog a dû, par la voix de son administrateur-directeur général Leod Paul Batolo, déclarer le cas de force majeure, tout en informant ses partenaires de l’évolution de la situation ainsi que de la reprise normale de ses activités.

Sitôt après l’accident, le ministre des Transports, Brice Constant Paillat, et son collègue en charge des Infrastructures, Toussaint Nkouma Emane, avaient effectué un déplacement express sur le lieu du déraillement. Au regard de la situation sur le terrain, le membre du gouvernement premièrement cité avait laissé entendre que la réhabilitation du tronçon du chemin de fer défectueux devrait prendre beaucoup de temps.

Cette indisponibilité, indépendamment donc de sa volonté, a déjà commencé à impacter les activités de la Comilog mais aussi celles de Nouvelle Gabon Mining, selon des voix autorisées.
